Why keeping promises is important




















People with strong relationships rank higher in emotional intelligence and are more likely to stay loyal to their commitments.

Whether the commitment is to yourself or to someone else, making a promise is a commitment that you will keep your word. It is a commitment that reinforces trust. Actions speak louder than words. Promises are actions that affirm our love and connection with others. Whether that connection is through friendships, family or strangers, promises affirm that we want to pass on our compassion to others.

Fulfilling promises to yourself to do better or be better is just as important as following through on your promises to others. When you make a promise to yourself, you are taking the time to work towards improving your life. When we work on ourselves, it gives us the ability to better take care of others. If someone asks you to make a promise that makes you feel uncomfortable, stay true to yourself and tell them that they are asking too much of you.

Promises are a vital part of building our relationships. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.

These are: 1 empathic understanding; 2 respect, or unconditional positive regard expressed as warmth ; and 3 congruence or genuineness. I used to make promises to myself and find them easy to break. First, he promised Abraham a land, a specific location for his people.

Secondly, he promised Abraham descendants. And, contextually, that would mean righteous descendants. Heaven forbid the Lord does not keep His promises! He will keep all of them, as per His Word, including the literal land promise with succinctly defined borders. He wants to build our faith and endurance levels— God had promised Abraham that He would deliver his descendants from slavery which He did. By taking them through the longer route was a way to build up their tenacity, capacity,endurance,trust,faith in Him.

This blessing promised to Abraham would extend through him to all the peoples of the earth. Blessings have to do with approval. The first meaning is asking God for protection or favor.
