Crowsnest South. Drayton Valley. What are the most popular places to go snowmobiling? Where do I ride for my skill level? This is first going to be determined by what type of snowmobiling you are looking into. Are you looking to tear up the mountains and get in some boondocking?
Or are you looking for a sprint down a forresty trail? If you are interested in cruising down a trail with your partner, and taking in the quiet serenity of winter landscapes, there are several options both within the Calgary, AB region and slightly beyond.
Just a short drive south of Calgary, just outside of Longview, there are the Cataract Creek and Etherington Creek riding areas. Both areas offer an expansive network of snowmobile trails, which vary in difficulty from Beginner to Intermediate depending on snow levels in the area. Trails in this area vary from Beginner to Intermediate.
Burnt Timber offers 95km of trails for the Novice to Intermediate trial rider and Fallen Timber offers km of snowmobile trails for all skill levels. Just northwest of Olds and Sundre, is the Bearberry area. The Olds Snowmobile Club maintains kilometers of trail riding just west of Bearberry. While these trails are not groomed, they follow cut lines that take riders to some pristine riding areas. These trails are suitable for Beginner to Intermediate snowmobilers.
Crowsnest Pass offers a unique riding experience for trail snowmobilers, with trail riding in the mountains. The Lost Lake riding area offers great Beginner to Intermediate level trails.
